Members of the band Dan and Liz Littleton, Karla Schickele, Jean Cook, Ruth Keating and Matt Cooper started courting Michael for a co-production soon after they crossed musical paths, and out of that came the 2009 release Ida Con Snock on Gnomonsong. Having had the pleasure of witnessing some of the sessions that went into making the album at Levon Helm’s magnificent all-wood studio in Woodstock, New York, it is easy to see why the collaboration was sought. During practice, Michael let all their many skills follow his suit, generating a sound perfectly described by the title – an experience in hearing Ida play with Michael Hurley, and bringing both to a new place. Continuously at Ida Music. |
